Appropriations and More COVID-19 Aid: How to Handle?

The House Agriculture Subcommittee approved its version of the FY 2021 ag appropriations bill. The measure will now move to the full committee - currently scheduled for Thursday. The House of Representatives, which has been holding only pro forma floor sessions, will likely take up this and the other appropriations bills between 20 July and 31 July.   The House bill moved through the subcommittee easily; there were no amendments.  Overall discretionary spending (as opposed to the mandatory spending for farm bill programs) is pegged at $23.98 billion, which is 2 percent ($487 million) more than the enacted FY 2020 level. Weighing in on strategic realignment

WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments. On behalf of numerous clients, WPI has not only assisted in identifying strategic paths but also advised their implementation.
