Regional Updates MEDITERRANEAN/MIDDLE EAST/NORTH AFRICA  Bangladesh poultry industry leaders have asked the government to help their suffering industry by reducing the tax on animal feed manufacturers from 15 percent to 5 percent and they want to exempt the taxes on feed raw materials for “at least 10 years”. Retail poultry prices are at the lowest levels in 12 years. Much of the industry problems are being blamed on a COVID-19 drop in poultry consumption complicated by increases in raw material costs. COVID-19 is said to have cost the poultry industry $825 million. India has asked Pakistan for permission to ship 50,000 MT of wheat by truck across Pakistan to Afghanistan. Weighing in on strategic realignment

WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
