Blue Collar Trade Policy The Biden Administration is changing trade policy objectives to focus on trade that creates employment in sectors like manufacturing. It will reportedly no longer expend negotiating capital on sectors like financial services, pharmaceuticals, Hollywood, or intellectual property protection. Trade policy veterans are notably dubious of this limited view of the economy and jobs. After all, Continental Europe is licking its chops over stealing the lucrative financial market from post-Brexit London. By focusing on certain favored fields, the Biden policy ignores the fundamental economics of comparative advantage and productivity improvement.
