Canadian Elections

Canadian voters went to the polls last night. They selected Mark Carney, the current Prime Minister, as the leader of the new government. The writ of election was issued just over a month ago, on 23 March, after Governor General Mary Simon accepted a request to dissolve parliament from Prime Minister Carney. Moreover, this was the first election to use a new 343 seat electoral map based on the 2021 Canadian census.   The ruling liberal party is projected to have won the election, forming its fourth consecutive government. However, as of last night, it is unclear if this will be a majority or minority government. The milestone is 172 seats.
