European Market Analysis

Through 9 November, Ukraine’s grain harvest reached 90 percent of the total area and spanned 9.84 million hectares (MHa). The total crop is 51.275 MMT, of which corn production has hit 21.22 MMT and the harvest is 72 percent complete. Sunflower seed production has hit 11.52 MMT and just 3 percent of the area is yet unharvested.   Only 40-45 percent of Kazakhstan’s 2023/24 wheat harvest will meet food quality standards, according to the head of the SGS Kazakhstan LDT LPP laboratory due to low protein, high sprouted grain content, and possible issues with mycotoxins.  Heavy rains in Europe continue to disrupt the winter crop planting with some crops in some areas delayed by nearly a month. Communicating importance of value-added products

Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
