Regional Updates MEDITERRANEAN/MIDDLE EAST/NORTH AFRICA Egypt’s Consumer Price Index for “urban consumers” is said to have increased 3.8 percent in August with the year to date increase at 107.5 percent. In the past month meat and poultry prices have moved lower while cereals and bread prices are higher. The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has finalized another wheat purchase of 330,000 MT at $278.50 MT CNF. It is reported that eight international companies took part in the tender with prices ranging up to $290 MT. TCP has recently set four wheat tenders, two tenders were passed due to high prices while a total of 660,000 MT was purchased. Forecasting developments in production agriculture

On behalf of a private U.S. agricultural technology provider, WPI’s team generated an econometric model to forecast the movement of concentrated corn production north and west from the traditional U.S. Corn Belt.
