Regional Updates MEDITERRANEAN/MIDDLE EAST/NORTH AFRICA/AFRICA – MEA REGION Pakistan’s planting of wheat may be delayed by at least a month in a large area of the country due to the slow recovery of farmlands from the recent flooding. Estimates say that the flooding could have caused up to $ 40 billion in agricultural losses. Some provinces of Pakistan are expecting wheat crops to be down by 50 percent. Pakistan and Russian officials are discussing the purchase of wheat by Pakistan using financial payment methods that are agreeable to both countries, including payment by bilateral trade.
