However, the proposed EPA rule – if finalized - wouldn’t take effect until 2024, and thus won’t apply to the summer of 2023. The intention of the rule was well received, but missing the deadline is a major disappointment to the ethanol and corn sectors.  That timeline actually sets E15 back; in April of 2022 the Biden EPA issued a one-year emergency waiver to allow year-round E15 in part to reduce retail gasoline prices. That waiver was in response to supply chain disruptions, the war in Ukraine and other factors leading to higher fuel prices at the pump. Aga...

Weighing in on strategic realignment

WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments. On behalf of numerous clients, WPI has not only assisted in identifying strategic paths but also advised their implementation.
