Export Sales

Export Sales and Shipments for April 12-18, 2024  Wheat:  Net sales of 82,000 metric tons (MT) for 2023/2024 were down noticeably from the previous week and down 4 percent from the prior 4-week average. Exports shipments of 573,900 MT were up 18 percent from the previous week and 13 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to China (136,200 MT), the Philippines (131,200 MT), Japan (91,900 MT), Mexico (65,900 MT), and the Dominican Republic (33,700 MT).  Corn:  Net sales of 1,299,900 MT for 2023/2024 were up noticeably from the previous week and up 74 percent from the prior 4-week average. Communicating importance of value-added products

Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
